Dr. Kay Fujiyoshi is a Foundations year instructor and advisor at the University of Chicago Urban Teacher Education Program.  She teaches the Foundations of Education Seminar, a day-long seminar course, in a three-quarter sequence composed of three integrated pedagogical strands that are key to the development of teaching and learning: Academic, Fieldwork, and Soul Strand.  Prior to joining UEI full-time, Dr. Fujiyoshi worked with UChicago UTEP as an interim residency instructor. She previously taught in both public and charter schools in Chicago.  Dr. Fujiyoshi earned her PhD in Urban Educational Policy Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago as well as an M.Ed in Educational Policy Studies and BA in English Literature and Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
