City Year University Partnership

UChicago UTEP is proud to partner with City Year, an education-focused nonprofit organization. The University Partnership Program has been established to offer City Year corps, alums and staff the opportunity to continue to serve their community as Chicago Public School teachers. City Year members who are admitted to our teacher certification and MAT-degree granting program are eligible for financial incentives and partnership benefits.

City Year corps, alum and staff who are admitted to UChicago UTEP will receive:

  • Approximately 50% in tuition reduction, of the second year, when candidates are full-time.  Scholarships will be awarded to City Year corps member or alumni who have successfully completed at least one year of service and to City Year staff members employed for at least two years.
  • A waived application fee
  • Recognition as UChicago UTEP City Year National Service Scholars upon completion of the program
  • Consideration by City Year as high potential prospective staff with invitations to events at City Year with senior leaders.
  • The option to defer enrollment by one year if the decision is made to stay with City Year for additional time before starting studies. Admitted students who defer are required to submit $250 as a tuition deposit and an additional $250 to defer; all monies will be credited toward tuition once enrolled.

Contact the UChicago UTEP Admissions Office at for instructions on how to have the application fee waived and be considered for the partnership scholarship.

A verification letter must be submitted to be considered for the scholarship.
