Tanika Island, Director; Managing Director, Urban Education Institute

Tanika Island oversees UChicago UTEP’s program design, curriculum, and program operations, and the recruitment of students, staff, faculty, and clinical instructors. She meets regularly with staff to help guide admissions, advising, and teaching across the program. She is a member of UEI's senior management team. Email Tanika Island

Jeanette Bartley, Co-Director, Middle Grades Licensure Pathway

Jeanette Bartley oversees the Middle Grades Program and co-leads the residency year for residents. She co-leads the Teaching & Learning (T & L) Seminar and supervises Middle Grade residents in their field and clinical placements. She also teaches Science Content for Teaching I, II, and III and Science Methods to first-year Elementary and Middle Grade interns.  Email Jeanette Bartley

Bill Kennedy, Co-Director, Elementary Licensure Pathway

Bill Kennedy oversees the Elementary Program and co-teaches the Foundations seminar during Spring quarter. He also teaches Social Studies Content for Teachers and Social Studies Methods to second-year residents. Email Bill Kennedy

Julie Scott Furigay, Induction Coach

Julie Scott Furigay provides instructional coaching and professional development to UChicago UTEP Elementary alumni during their first three years working in Chicago Public Schools. Janet Granados, Induction Coach and Instructor

Janet Granados provides instructional coaching and professional development to UChicago UTEP Elementary alumni during their first three years working in Chicago Public Schools. She also leads the UChicago UTEP ESL/Bilingual Endorsement program. Email Janet Granados

Candis Jackson, Recruiter and Alumni Engagement Officer

Candis Jackson recruits and assists with evaluation of applicants for admission to the UChicago UTEP program and serves as the liaison between UChicago UTEP and all organizations and individuals involved in the admissions process. Jackson assists with planning and preparing public presentations and other recruitment activities and strategies. Jackson also plans, implements and promotes programming to encourage alumni engagement. Email Candis Jackson

Tinishia Legaux Washington, Foundations Year Instructor and Advisor

Tinishia Legaux Washington leads math tutoring classes and supports interns in their clinical experiences across the year. She also serves as an advisor to first-year interns. Email Tinishia Legaux Washington

Diane New-Hardy, Student Services Administrator/Assistant Recruiter and Admissions Coordinator

Diane New-Hardy provides administrative support to UChicago UTEP. She manages student registration and the Federal Work Study program, is a member of the recruiting and admissions team, and serves as Licensure Officer and liaison to the Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies, which awards candidates the MAT degree. She addresses all needs related to student registration and time schedules, and also serves as an advisor to first-year interns. Email Diane New-Hardy

Dale Ray, Elementary Foundations Year Coordinator, Instructor and Advisor

Dale Ray oversees the first-year tutoring strand, ensuring coherence across the literacy and mathematics components. She teaches literacy tutoring classes and the reading methods and the writing methods courses.
