Requirements

Phase I
Application to Chicago UTEP is a two-phase process. We encourage prospective candidates to attend one of the informational meetings held at the University of Chicago during autumn and winter quarters to find out more about the program and application procedures.

Undergraduates in good standing in the College of the University of Chicago who plan to take the Foundations of Education sequence as a part of their fourth-year coursework are eligible to apply to Chicago UTEP during their junior year. Because of the considerable time commitment, we recommend that College students complete as many required courses and labs as possible by the end of their junior year.

Graduates of U of C and comparable colleges or universities may also apply to Chicago UTEP. In addition to the documents listed below, we  request a copy of your college transcript. Please note that the Foundations of Education Sequence is a part-time commitment that does not result in a degree or certification. Although the sequence is a prerequisite for the Clinical Internship, completing it does not guarantee admission. Please see the admissions procedure for the Clinical Internship.

Applicants to the Phase 1/Foundations of Education Sequence must submit their online applications to Chicago UTEP, including three letters of recommendation. The early admissions deadline is February 15 and the late admissions deadline is April 18. Approximately twenty students will be taken each year, with first preference given to students who participate in the early round of admissions. Notification of acceptance occurs by March 15 and July 1. The program begins with a required orientation week in the 3rd week of September.

Phase II
Candidates enrolled in the Foundations of Education Sequence must apply for the Clinical Internship year by March 1, 2007. Notification of acceptance occurs by June 1. The four-week summer session and summer school teaching assignments begin the first week in July.
