Susan Stodolsky, Faculty Director
Susan Stodolsky is Professor Emerita of the Department of Comparative Human Development, the College, and the Committee on Education. As faculty director of Chicago UTEP, she meets regularly with directors to co-develop and review the program’s curriculum. She also assists with candidate recruitment and admissions, advising, and teaching. She also leads research and evaluation activities on Chicago UTEP and chairs the Chicago UTEP steering committee.

Kavita Kapadia, Director
Kavita Kapadia is an Assistant Clinical Professor on the Committee of Education and Director of UTEP. She oversees all program design, curriculum, and program operations, including recruitment of candidates, staff, faculty, and clinical instructors. She meets regularly with the staff and assists with candidate recruitment and admissions, advising, and teaching. She leads the Fieldwork Strand of the Foundations of Education Sequence. She assists with research, evaluation, and fundraising activities for the program.

She has been a CPS classroom teacher, a demonstration-classroom teacher, a literacy teacher-leader, a mentor teacher, and adjunct faculty at Northwestern and National-Louis universities. In 1998 she co-founded New Teachers Network, a teacher induction program sponsored by the University of Chicago Center for Urban School Improvement that is now part of the Chicago New Teacher Center. Ms. Kapadia holds a master’s degree in education and administrative certification, and completed her doctorate in sociology at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on preservice preparation and new teacher induction.

Marvin Hoffman, Associate Director
Marvin Hoffman received his Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from Harvard University. His long teaching career has spanned all grade levels from pre-school to Graduate School and has taken him to Mississippi, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont Texas and now, Chicago. Most recently he was the Founding Director of the North Kenwood Oakland Charter School. He is the author of three books, Vermont Diary, Chasing Hellhounds: A Teacher Learns from his Students and You Won't Remember Me: The Schoolboys of Barbiana Seaks to Today.

In his current role as a UTEP's Associate Director he assists the director in all of the activities described above. In addition, he leads both the Academic and Soul strands of the Foundations of Education Sequence and the Professional Teaching Seminar.

Amy Millikan, Field Instructor and Assessment Coordinator
Amy Millikan co-teaches two seminars during the internship year.  She supervises candidates in their field and clinical placements, analyzing candidate performance and providing feedback to candidates.  Amy also represents UTEP on the Education Unit Coordinating Assessment Board, aligning candidate and program assessments with larger Education Unit goals.  Amy's interests include curriculum planning and design, as well as, tailoring curriculum for learning differences.  Amy received her BA from Wesleyan University and her Masters in Education from Smith College.

Dale Ray, Tutoring Strand Instructor and Primary Grade Literacy Coordinator
Dale Ray is the primary literacy coordinator at the North Kenwood/Oakland campus of the University of Chicago Charter School. In her UTEP role, she oversees the tutoring strand and provides workshops to introduce central concepts and assessment strategies in a balanced literacy framework. She reviews candidates’ weekly notes on their tutees progress and provides mentorship and feedback to candidates.

Michelle Cooney, Clinical Instructor Coordinator and Intermediate Grade Literacy Coordinator
Michelle Cooney provides professional development for Clinical Instructors who currently mentor UTEP Teaching Interns. Michelle is the intermediate literacy coordinator at the North Kenwood/Oakland campus of the University of Chicago Charter School. and provides support to interns' during tutoring.

Sheri Roedel, Induction Coach and Clinical Instructor Coordinator
Sheri Roedel provides onsite, personalized coaching to all graduates during their first two years in the Chicago Public Schools. She also monitors graduates’ online support group and provides small group professional development in response to their inquiries and requests. In addition, she coaches clinical instructors and provides them with regular professional development.

William Kennedy, Induction Coach
Bill Kennedy provides onsite, personalized coaching to all graduates during their first two years in the Chicago Public Schools. He also monitors graduates’ online support group and provides small group professional development in response to their inquiries and requests. In addition, he co-teachers the Professional Teaching Seminar and supports' math tutoring work for first year UTEP students.

Lou Bradley, Consultant
Lou Bradley assists with the tutoring strand and reviews candidates’ weekly tutee notes and provides feedback to candidates. Additionally, she co-plans and co-leads the Soul Strand seminars.

Douglas O'Roark, Director of Secondary Mathematics and Biology
Douglas O'Roark
oversees program design, curriculum and operations for the new secondary UTEP program. He will lead the Secondary Education Strand for students in the Mathematics cohort.

Douglas has had an extended career within Chicago Public Schools and helped found both North Lawndale College Prep and Walter Payton College Prep, where he served as chair of the mathematics department and director of the school’s seminar program. He has won multiple national teaching awards and in 2009 he was named the winner of the T.E. Rine Award by the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics. He earned his M.A.T. in mathematics education at the University of Chicago.
